Founded by the renowned Educationist,the Late Padma Bhushan Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil in 1919,the antha has become a symbol of education for the classes as well as the masses,catering to the needs of specifically the downtrodden and socially deprived sections of society.The Karmaveer devoted his life to the cause of Education which he took to the remote villages and huts across the length and breadth of Western Maharashtra.The name Rayat was chosen for the term’s association with the common peasant class.Significantly,the Sanstha’s motto was its emphasis upon the self-help.Thus among other things,the Sanstha stressed manual labour by the students, education with the experience of Hostel life,awareness of the social conditions and pursuit of quality in Education.
